History and Philosophy

Charles Centro Oftalmológico was founded in 1998 by M.D. Daniel Charles who, along with his son Martín, his nephew Nicolás and a large team of collaborators, address patient inquiries and treat surgical cases using state-of-the-art technology to deliver top quality care to patients.

In 2006, the clinic opened up the Ophthalmology Residency Program with the approval of Consejo Argentino de Oftalmología (Argentine Ophthalmology Association) and A.C.A.P. to train and educate young professionals on this specialty. To such end, we have a WetLab, a laboratory equipped with the same technology and tools found in the operating room, where residents become first familiarized with surgical techniques. This program lasts four years.

In 2008, Drs. Daniel and Martín Charles created Fundación VER with the aim of providing top quality ophthalmology care to patients who cannot access it through other means.

Among other conditions, the center specializes in retina, cataracts, cornea, refractive surgery and glaucoma. Procedures currently performed include cataract surgery, vitreoretinal surgery, corneal grafting, ocular trauma, refractive surgery with excimer laser and wet and dry macular degeneration treatment.

In addition to providing care to patients in Buenos Aires city and Greater Buenos Aires, we receive patient referrals for interconsultation and complex surgical cases from the country’s interior.

The clinic has four offices located in Buenos Aires city. The premises include Centro de Investigación Clínica (Clinical Research Center), Centro de Mácula (Macula Specialty Center), two operating rooms and a great number of equipment and machines for the performance of next generation tests and treatments.

Internationally renowned and equipped with a top-tier medical team and a highly qualified and dedicated technical and administrative assistant team, along with state-of-the-art technology machinery, the clinic’s top priority is to give patients a professional and humane treatment, and to instill its philosophy and lead by example.
